1. The free homepage demo

Every site starts with a free demo of your homepage, so you can see how it could look before you decide anything. It's free and there's no obligation. The demo is the homepage only, and it's shown on a private preview link marked "Demo", never on your own domain.

2. Two ways to pay

You can pay for your website in one of two ways. Both include the same build.

Pay once: £750

• £375 to book in.
• £375 at launch.

Pay monthly: £150 a month for 6 months

• No upfront cost. Your first payment is when you book in.
• The care plan is included while you pay.
• After your 6th payment, the site is yours.

There's no extra charge for paying monthly: both ways come to the same. Over your first 6 months:

• Pay once: £750 for your build in month 1, then £30 a month for the care plan from month 2: £900 in total.
• Pay monthly: 6 payments of £150, with the care plan included: £900 in total.

From month 7, it's £30 a month either way, or nothing if you'd rather host it yourself.

3. What's included in the build

• Custom design built around your business (not a template), up to 10 pages
• Mobile-first, fast-loading build
• Click-to-call, Google Maps location, reviews and a photo gallery
• Enquiry form that sends straight to your inbox
• SEO set up properly: page titles, descriptions, sitemap, Google Business Profile link, and link previews for WhatsApp and social media
• A simple editor so you can update key content yourself
• Connecting your own domain (you buy it and you own it)
• Help setting up business email (you pay your email provider)

The build covers up to 10 pages. If you need more, that's no problem: get in touch and I'll quote for your site before any work starts.

4. What you provide

To build your site, I'll need a few things from you, like your business details, the services you offer, photos of your work and any reviews you'd like to include. There's a full list on the Pricing page. Don't worry if you don't have everything: I can help write the words, and photos from your phone are fine.

Your build timeline starts once I have your content. If it hasn't arrived within 30 days of booking in, I may need to reschedule your build. If that happens, I'll get in touch and we'll find a new date that works for you.

5. What happens at launch

If you pay once

You pay the second £375 at launch. Then it's up to you. You can host it yourself: I'll move your site to a hosting provider of your choice, with a simple guide to how it all works, and there's nothing more to pay me. Or you can join the care plan for £30 a month. You can join the care plan any time later, too.

If you pay monthly

Your site goes live on my hosting, and the care plan is included while you pay. After your 6th payment, the site is yours: you can keep the care plan for £30 a month, or take your site elsewhere.

6. The care plan

The care plan is £30 a month, for as long as you'd like it. I'll host your site, keep it running and make small updates whenever you need them. It's still your website. It includes:

• Hosting, SSL and security
• Small updates whenever you need them
• Access to the simple editor
• Support from me directly

What counts as a small update

Things like changing text, adding photos, updating prices or opening hours. You can also send me photos of finished jobs by message or email and I'll add them. For bigger changes, like new features or new kinds of section, I'll quote first, so you always know the price.

Cancelling

There's no long contract. The care plan runs month to month, and you can cancel any time with 30 days' notice. Once your build is paid for, you take your site with you.

7. Stopping early on the monthly option

Need to stop before your 6th payment? No problem. You can pay the remaining payments and keep your site, or let it come offline. Your domain stays yours either way.

8. What's yours

• Your domain is always yours. You buy it in your own name, right from day one.
• Your code and files (including your photos, text and logo) are yours once the build is paid for.

If you ever want to move on, I'll hand everything over and your site will keep running.

9. Things I quote for separately

These aren't part of the build or the care plan, but I'm happy to help with them. You'll always know the price first.

• New features or new kinds of section, like booking systems or custom layouts
• Full online shops (simple selling, like a few products, deposits or gift vouchers, is something we can talk about)
• Booking systems and business automation
• Business card design
• Domain and email costs (paid directly by you)

10. Domain and email costs

You buy your domain in your own name (usually around £10 to £20 a year), so it's always yours. I'll guide you through it in a few minutes and handle all the setup. Already have one? Just give me access and I'll do the rest. Your domain and business email are paid directly by you to the providers, not to me. I'll help you set up business email, too.

11. If you're buying as a private individual

If you're buying for yourself rather than for a business (for example, a personal or portfolio site), you have the right to cancel within 14 days of booking in, without giving a reason. Just email me at contact@umbermotion.com within those 14 days. [Details of what happens if work has already started: TBC]

12. Changes to these terms

If these terms change, I'll update this page and the date at the top.
